Old Town Hall, Shop, and Fire Station,Blanca Colorado

The metal building above was constructed in 1981 to house the Town Shop and the Fire Department. The north end, left, of the building was the Town Hall. The building was also the site of the Police Department and the Municipal Court until 2004. Town Hall, the Police Department and the Municipal Court moved to the new building on Main Street in April of 2004.

The shop, fire department and the Costilla County ambulance are still located in this building on Smith Avenue. The Town has a long history with the ambulance service. Although the Costilla County Ambulance District is a separate, independent, governmental entity with a tax base of its own, the Town of Blanca has furnished a heated bay, electricity, and an office area in the shop for the ambulance and the ambulance crew free of charge for over 20 years.
